Storytelling: Managing Challenges in Your Product Career

How do you figure out the next step on your career path? What do you do when you're the only woman in the room evangelizing your product? How do you overcome implicit bias in technology?

These are just some of the questions professional women ask themselves as they try to navigate the world of product management, marketing and user experience in the technology industry. Our panel of professionals will discuss their experiences as they faced a variety of these challenging situations.

This will be our second of a three-part storytelling series where seasoned professionals discuss topics focused on their experiences towards career success in the product field. The topic discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and casual networking. Light food and refreshments will be served.

Cost and Registration:

Tickets are $10 and registration is available here on EventBrite.

* BPMA Premium Members can attend for free. Not a member? Sign-up for before the event.

About the Panel:

Amisha Thakkar, Product Manager - Wolters Kluwer

Amisha Thakkar is passionate about building intuitive products and strongly believes that users should not have to read a manual to use most products. She is a Product Manager at UpToDate and has led cross functional teams that were on different continents. Amisha has done pretty much everything in the software business - written code, been a scrum master, brought back “down” systems to life, talked to customers. She was an organizer on the BPMA’s PRODiE committee and presented at Product Camp 2016.

Ellen Chisa, VP of Product - Lola Travel

Ellen Chisa is the VP of Product at Lola Travel. Previously, she she was a Product Manager at Kickstarter, and a Program Manager for Office Mobile at Microsoft. She's on leave from the MBA Program at Harvard Business School and has a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. She speaks, teaches, and writes about Product Management on a regular basis. In her free time she likes to play pinball and scuba dive.

Nichole Mace, VP of Product and Member Experience - Zipcar

With nearly 20 years of product strategy and market research under her (seat)belt, Nichole has a knack for creating the ultimate customer experience. She's held leadership roles at a number of companies, including Showable Media, High Start Group, ProspectPark Consulting, Constant Contact and Intuit. When she isn't thinking about products, you can catch her at the yoga studio, on a hiking trip, or skiing at a nearby mountain. Nichole holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Delaware and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College.
