About the Program
The BPMA Mentorship Program is the first ever program dedicated to the product community in the Boston area. The program is currently in its seventh year and is inviting product management and marketing professionals in the region to join this highly received program.
As part of the program, a mentee is assigned an executive mentor for six months. Participants are also encouraged to attend the bi-annual roundtable discussions that bring together active mentors and mentees, as well as past program alumni. Past program participants have expressed enormous gratification from the quality of discussion and expertise shared and the individual interactions and connections they have made.
Past Participants' Experience
"I really like the BPMA mentoring experience. I've had some great mentors in the past that have helped shaped my career. It's great to give back. The mentees in this program are eager to learn, so it's nice to work with people with such high initiative."
Alan Belniak, Mentor
Director of Social Media Marketing, PTC
"There are a lot of different areas of product management/marketing, and a variety of industry and experience levels in the room. It’s nice to hear perspectives from such a diverse group."
Ralph R. Valente, Mentor
Senior Vice President and Director, Rockland Trust
"I was really fortunate to be a part of the BPMA Executive Council program. The round table discussions were extremely useful. Where else can you benefit from a room full of experienced product managers and marketers all willing to brainstorm and share best practices?"
The Mentorship Program runs for six months. We ask that the mentor participate for a full year to offer guidance to two mentees. The mentor and mentee typically communicate monthly at the convenience of the mentor.
There are also scheduled breakfast roundtable events twice a year – once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to discuss solutions for work-related problems and share professional experiences at their own pace.
Mentors are professional executives who have extensive relevant experience and their professional level spans from Directors to C-level executives in companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 firms.*
Mentees are product professionals who are currently in Product Management or Product Marketing roles. Case-by-case exceptions will be made for those pursuing an active role or in a graduate degree program.
